Leah Morris

Leah Morris mostly focuses her art practices around nature. She has been looking in to weather and how it changes.

Weather is powerful and uncontrollable which plays a huge part in how we all live.

Morris created paintings with a concept of having no control over how the paintings would develop, removing all control she had from the process and experimenting with how the paint forms. Morris finds this to be a very inspiring and enjoyable process.

I experimented with the movement of the texture of the paint. I have based this painting on weather and nature. I feel it represents water. I chose the colours because I felt they were calm and also stormy, I like the idea of the purple in the concept. I really enjoyed the process of creating this painting and watching the paint flow and develop its own shapes and watch as the colours blended.

About the works:

This abstract collection is inspired by the beauty, but also unpredictable power, of nature. Symbolising all things seen in nature whether it be marks from tree bark, or cracks and roots on the ground. The fluidity of my paintings demonstrates the uncontrollable side of nature, from the way water flows to how strong the wind blows
